APPEARANCE
- Uneven wear on brake pads. Minimal wear on one side of the pad, maximal wear on the other side of the pad.
REASONS
- Binding Caliper. A brake pad is in constant contact with the disc causing the pad to wear down to the metal backing plate. The side of the disc that contacts the backing plate is largely stripped off, while the other side of the disc and the other pad are practically new.
EFFECTS
- Persistent friction noise, vibration and low braking efficiency. Vehicle pulling to the side, possible unstable braking action
SOLUTION
- Caliper needs to be checked, replaced or repaired. If the problem is not detected in time, replace the brake pads and brake discs.
