APPEARANCE
- Partially charred or burnt friction material (outside edges appear whitish)
REASONS
- Prolonged excessive pad heat from heavy use or pulling the brake pad over the disc
EFFECTS
- Decreased initial effectiveness of the brake
- Excessive material wear and unusual wear
- The material breaks easily, flakes and cracks
SOLUTION
- Investigate the cause of the brake pad overheating.
- If the damage is not excessive, the pads will be effective under normal use.
- If the damage is too great, replace the brake pad assembly.
